Voices, LLC (“Voices,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Voices platform at thevoices.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Service.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information — name, email address, password (via Clerk)
- Profile information — bio, headshot, speaking topics, testimonials, social links, media
- Payment information — billing details processed by Polar; we do not store full card numbers
- Communications — messages you send to other users or to us
- Content — pitches, opportunity applications, course progress, and other content you create
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, time spent, referring URLs
- Device data — IP address, browser type, operating system
- Cookies and similar technologies — session tokens, analytics identifiers
Information from third parties
- Clerk — authentication provider; may supply your name and email at sign-up
- Polar — payment processor; supplies transaction confirmation data
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your account and speaker profile
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Match you with relevant speaking opportunities
- Process payments and send receipts
- Send transactional emails (account activity, billing, course access)
- Send product updates and marketing communications (you can opt out at any time)
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following limited circumstances:
With service providers
We share data with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate the Service, including Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database hosting), Polar (payments), and analytics providers. These vendors process data only as directed by us and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Public profile information
Your speaker profile — including name, photo, bio, topics, and testimonials — is publicly visible by default. You control what information appears on your profile.
With other users
When you participate in the community feed, submit pitches to organizers, or request/receive testimonials, relevant information is shared with those users as part of normal platform operation.
Legal requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Voices, our users, or others.
Business transfers
If Voices is acquired, merged, or undergoes a change of control, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Service before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember preferences, and analyze usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features of the Service may not function properly without them.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal data
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any email

9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. International Users
Voices is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
